Cruickston Charitable Research Reserve fosters a belief that volunteers are an essential human resource to the organization. Volunteers increase our capacity to realize the objectives and vision we have set forth. As a voluntary organization governed by a Board of Directors, Cruickston Charitable Research Reserve will commit to the appropriate infrastructure to support our volunteers. We are dedicated to providing safe and supportive surroundings and in return, volunteers will make a commitment and will be accountable to the organization. Through the dedicated collaboration of Cruickston and its volunteers, the quality of life will be enhanced not only within our environment, but throughout the whole of Waterloo Region.

A Vision for Conservation and Education:

"To create a self-sustaining model of preservation, conservation and enhancement techniques which stimulates a general awareness of our natural heritage."

Volunteers participate in a variety of ways:

  1. Resource maintenance volunteers:
    • Volunteers could assist as trail ambassadors, river stewards and for trail maintenance, built-heritage upkeep, and semi-annual clean-up.
  2. Resource management volunteers:
    • Volunteers may undertake nature projects and bio-inventory, construct trails and trail signage.
  3. Resource interpretation volunteers:
    • Volunteers assist with guided walks, illustrated talks, seasonal workshops, and annual events such as Celebration Day and Cruickston Conference as well as special events. Enquiries from artists and photographers who wish to contribute to the interpretation and promotion of the resources of CCRR are welcome.
  4. Administration/Office assistance volunteers:
    • Volunteers can provide administration assistance through mailings, word processing, filing and other duties as necessary.
  5. Cruickston Organic Agriculture Project volunteers:
    • At present, COAP volunteers can assist in the preparation of food baskets, sales at the Cambridge Farmers Market, some office administration, possible funding research and assistance, and promotion.
  6. Fundraising volunteers:
    • Volunteers may assist in activities that further the fundraising efforts of CCRR. These activities may include things such as: fundraising calls, research, special event planning and assistance, donor cultivation, in-kind solicitation, etc.
